Whew, Long Day

I ended up making much more progress today than I expected. I think the whole concept is working out well. I really need to get busy with the track plan and get it finalized. I am certainly going to have plenty of room for lots of track, that is for sure. Should end up making some nice long trains.
I would appreciate your comments, I always look forward to reading them. Thank you.

The last photograph really gives a good perspective on the size of the layout. It is going to be incredible. The second level is going to make even more dynamic. Thanks for looking. Have a wonderful Easter.
Results of an Afternoon of Work

Here are a few progress photos. The lower staging yard is complete and the upper level staging yard is framed. I still have to add metal bracing before the plywood is put on. The framework for the helix is also in progress. I am going to consider some lighting options soon. Everything is proceeding nicely.
Be sure to visit my friend Mike’s – Owens Valley Subdivision; as his latest progress, on his n scale layout, is quite impressive. He is the creator of the design that I am building. My thanks go out to him for these great ideas.
New Layout Plan

After fiddling around with AutoCad for a few days, this is what I have come up with for the basis of a new design. It gives me the flexibility of two levels with continuous runs and the second level is not overbearing and difficult to work with as it is small enough to support a double mainline and a few industry spurs. The nice thing is that you will be able to run two trains simultaneously and not see the same train the entire time. Feel free to provide any comments.
3pm update: After sketching some track plans, the main line is big enough to maybe just do one level and avoid the helix construction.
